Mentor a Student

TFAS invites you to make a greater impact than ever before by joining our brand-new speed mentoring program: TFAS Mentor Mixers!
>> Registration Deadline: May 23
About the New Program
This fresh format departs from our traditional one-on-one mentoring model to create more authentic, dynamic connections between students and mentors. At each event, students will engage with at least six mentors, while mentors will have the opportunity to impact the lives of 25+ students. These rapid-fire sessions are designed to spark powerful mentorships that can grow beyond the moment.
Mentors will be stationed at one table for the duration of the event, while small groups of 4–5 students rotate to new tables throughout the evening. Each group will join the table for a lively and meaningful 20-minute conversation, giving mentors the opportunity to share their insights and offer mentorship. If volunteers connect with a student and feel that continued mentorship would be mutually beneficial, you’re encouraged to follow up with them after the event!
Event Details

There will be three Mentor Mixers:
- Wednesday, June 11 | 6:00 – 7:30 PM | TFAS Headquarters (Dinner provided)
- Wednesday, June 18 | 8:30 – 10:00 AM | TFAS Headquarters (Breakfast provided)
- Friday, June 20 | 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM | GMU Arlington Campus (Lunch provided)
On the form, you’ll be asked to rank the dates that work best for you. While you’ll only attend one mixer, sharing all the dates you’re available helps us make sure each event is fully staffed with volunteers.
Inspired by the success of speed networking models across universities and organizations nationwide, TFAS is proud to launch this new mentor experience designed to build more meaningful Capital Connections than ever before.
If you’re ready to make a difference, we’d love to have you join our pool of mentors!

Mentoring brings these benefits:

- Increase your understanding of your own personal and professional goals.

- Develop new skills, such as counseling and strategic thinking.
- Receive invitations to future TFAS networking and volunteer appreciation events throughout the year.
