Overview

This summer: June 6 - August 1, 2009

Experience counts in the competitive field of journalism, and there is no better place to gain valuable reporting, writing and editing skills than the number one news town in the world, Washington, D.C. This intensive eight-week program is designed for students looking for professional, hands-on training in print or broadcast journalism, PR, and politics.

"Words alone cannot express the value of this summer. I have been enlightened, entertained and prepared for a great number of things in my future. The summer changed my life, my plans, and my perspective on it, and left me better prepared to handle the great challenges ahead and my own ambitions."
Scott Semple
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Intern, CRC Public Relations

One of Washington's top academic and internship programs, IPJ has provided undergraduates with the ultimate Washington, D.C. summer experience for the past two decades. The Institute selects many of the best undergraduate journalism students in the country to attend this Institute each summer, where they attend classes in economics, ethics and leadership and also serve in internships with major news organizations. Participants also attend regular briefings at principal news sites such as The U.S. House of Representatives, The White House and The State Department.

With a single application, students are enrolled at Georgetown University, live in a furnished apartment on campus in the center of D.C., and are placed in a competitive internship for eight weeks.
