Community Leadership & Service
One of the most exciting parts of IPVS is the Institute Philanthropy Project. During this interactive project you will directly impact the Washington, DC community through service and philanthropy, while learning valuable event-planning, fundraising, grantmaking, and facilitation skills.
Throughout the summer, you will plan and implement fundraising events to raise money for a grant that will be presented to a worthy organization selected by the IPVS class. In addition to the fundraising efforts, you will take part in service projects that will give you a first-hand look at the issues directly affecting Washington, DC.
You will serve on either a fundraising, service or grantmaking committee and have the opportunity to collaborate with members of all committees. Examples of past committee’s include:
- Movie Night
- Raffle and Silent Auction
- Cornhole Tournament
- Community Book Sale
- Community Car Wash
- TFAS Talent Show
- Grant Evaluation
- Community Service
“The IPVS Philanthropy Project is a great way to put into practice what we learn about philanthropy and voluntary service in our classes and internship. I really enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the Washington, DC community through community service and fundraising.”
