Application Procedure & Deadlines
Because applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Those who apply early will receive first consideration for both admission and scholarship decisions as well as internship placement. Many internship placements are very competitive, so the earlier you are admitted, the greater your chance of receiving a top internship placement.
March 1, 2018: Fall 2018 Early Deadline (Apply by this date to receive a 5% discount on your tuition balance)
April 10, 2018: Fall 2018 Priority Deadline for Scholarships & International Student Application Deadline (please click here for special application instructions)
June 1, 2018: Fall 2018 Final Application Deadline
All applicants are required to complete the online application available by clicking here. In addition to the online application, there are supplemental materials that must be sent via mail, email or fax using the contact information below. LTAP applicants must submit an official transcript, letter of recommendation and $25 application fee. Please see the application check list below for instructions.
Please keep in mind that your application will not be passed on to the Admissions Committee for review until all of the required materials have been received.

All participants must view and sign The Fund for American Studies program policies upon enrollment. This includes the Attendance Agreement that is included in the online enrollment form as well as a code of conduct agreement upon their arrival. Please click on the link below to view the policies for the Semester Programs, including terms of final payment, refunds, withdrawals and student participation.
Costs & Scholarships
Students enrolled in the Capital Semester on Leadership and the American Presidency program are required to take twelve credits. Housing is provided in furnished apartments in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC.
12 – Credits: Includes tuition and housing (15 weeks); $13,495
**A deposit of $750 is due three weeks after acceptance.
LTAP - Fall 2018 Estimate of living costs (actual costs vary and are not included in the program costs):
Books and supplies: $200
Food: $1,500 (depending on personal preferences)
Personal Expenses: $750 (entertainment, travel to/from internship, etc.)
Transportation to Washington: Based on distance to Washington and type of travel
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) and The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) strive to make their programs accessible and affordable to the best and brightest students regardless of financial status.
Generous scholarship funding is available to participants of Leadership and the American Presidency through the generous support of RRPFI. Scholarship funding is awarded based on a combination of factors including:
- Financial Need
- Academic Excellence
- Extracurricular Achievement
- Leadership Activities
Scholarship awards can range up to $9,000 for students with the highest degree of merit and financial need.
If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please plan to submit your scholarship materials at the time of application submission. The following materials must be submitted through your online application, mail, email (email@example.com) or fax (202.318.0441):
- A 250-word statement explaining your need for a scholarship. (Must be uploaded into your online application through the Apply Yourself system)
- Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) or Tax Return
- Financial Aid Award Summary & Grant/Scholarship Award Letter (if applicable)
