Choose between two options within the residence hall District House on the George Washington University campus. Whichever you choose, our staff hand-match you with roommates based on compatibility preferences provided in a housing survey completed at the time of enrollment.
Location & Housing Amenities
District House is located on the campus of George Washington University in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of DC. Foggy Bottom, given its name due to is location on the foggy banks of the Potomac River, is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Washington, DC. It is home to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Watergate, the State Department, and much more. Foggy Bottom boasts great restaurants, shops, stores, and easy access to the rest of the city with its own Metro rail stop on the Blue/Orange/Silver metro lines as well as metro bus stops. Students will be able to quickly travel to their internships and classes via the metro system.
Conveniently located in the heart of campus next to Gelman Library and Starbucks, District House is only a block away from the Metro station, Whole Foods, and various other off campus conveniences.
The building also includes 40,000 square feet of performing arts space, conference rooms, lounge and study areas in the lower levels of the building. Additionally, the retail and dining venues open to the public include Wiseguy NY Pizza, Beef ’n’ Bread, Chick-fil-A, GRK Fresh Greek, Sol Mexican Grill and Pete's Coffee.
District House, built in 2016 and located at 2121 H St., NW, has the following amenities:

Affinity Unit (16 to 20 residents)
Within the unit residents live in 2-person bedrooms with an adjoined bathroom. Each double room is equipped with two beds, two desks, a mini fridge and microwave. The communal kitchen is equipped with two of each appliance and seating for all of the 16 to 20 residents of the unit. There is an additional shared study/meeting area with seating for each resident and a traditional living room with sofa seating and a cable equipped TV. A washer and 2 dryers are also located directly in the unit to be shared by all residents. Residents only have access keys to their own room in addition to the main unit entrance.

Residents share a spacious studio unit with one roommate. Each studio style apartment is comprised of a double bedroom with an adjoining kitchen and bathroom. Each room comes equipped with 2 beds, 2 desks, and 2 desk chairs. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove, oven and microwave.

Fitness Center Options
The Learner Health and Wellness Center is available to students during the summer. Membership rates are $175 for a 7-week pass and weekly memberships can be purchased for $30. Memberships include unlimited access to all summer group fitness classes and towel service. The Center is conveniently located about two blocks from District House and four blocks from Potomac House. Students will also be provided with a list of local gyms and rates in the weeks leading up to the start of the program.
Application Procedure & Deadlines
Because applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis, we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Those who apply early will receive first consideration for both admission and scholarship decisions as well as internship placement. Many internship placements are very competitive, so the earlier you are admitted, the greater your chance of receiving a top internship placement.

To qualify for a deadline, you must submit the online application form by 11:59PM eastern time on the deadline. All supporting materials must also be received by the deadline.

All participants must view and sign The Fund for American Studies program policies upon enrollment. This includes the Attendance Agreement that is included in the online enrollment form as well as a code of conduct agreement upon their arrival. Costs & Scholarships
Students enrolled in a summer undergraduate program are required to take the three-credit core class associated with their institute. They may opt to enroll in one or two elective courses, earning either six or nine credits in total. Course descriptions may be found in the Academics section of each program page.
Participants may also choose between two housing options. Please view the housing section of the program pages for descriptions of the accommodations.
3-Credit Option: Includes tuition and housing in District House - Affinity Units (8 weeks): $7,495
6-Credit Option: Includes tuition and housing in District House - Affinity Units (8 weeks): $8,695
9-Credit Option: Includes tuition and housing in District House - Affinity Units (8 weeks): $9,895
**A deposit of $750 is due three weeks after acceptance. The remainder of the tuition balance is due April 1.
Optional Premium housing in District House - Studio Double: $440

The Fund for American Studies strives to make its programs accessible and affordable to the best and brightest students regardless of financial status. Scholarship funding is awarded based on a combination of factors including:
