Internships
Past Intern Sites
A variety of organizations participate as internships sites including local community organizations, national, and international nonprofit organizations and DC-based charitable foundations.
A wide range of issue areas are represented such as homelessness, domestic violence, youth development, the arts, crime prevention, community development, the environment and people with disabilities.

Past Intern Projects:
- Tiffany Searles from Lehigh University interned with Food & Friends where she led all of the volunteer orientations and became the face of the organization for new volunteers.
- Rebecca Dillmeier from Flagler College spent her summer interning at Horton’s Kids, where she was responsible for planning youth camp activities and field trips.
- Lauren Lumnitzer from Clemson University interned with The Smithsonian Associates Young Benefactors (YB) Program where she worked on fundraising projects including, a silent auction for the YB Ball and participating in the grant writing process for Discovery Theater.
- Sabrina Casanova from the University of Louisville worked in the Development Department at the Arlington Community Foundation, where she processed and prepared grant proposals for review committees. She also helped with corporate fundraising for the ACF annual golf tournament.
- Amy Huddleston from the University of Idaho interned in the Marketing and Communications Department at the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, where she created press releases, media advisories, brochures and a newsletter for their big event, THINGAMAJIG.
- Hilary Kosnac from Allegheny College spent her summer working with Just Neighbors on immigration issues, where she used her Spanish major to do everything from client intakes to answering the phones to preparing mailings and drafting cover letters for legal forms.
- Robin Miller from Eastern Michigan University spent her summer working at Discovery Creek Children’s Museum where she worked both in the office and on-site at the nature camp helping with camp activities, program evaluation and website maintenance.
