Internships
Past Intern Sites
A variety of organizations participate as internships sites including local community organizations, national, and international nonprofit organizations and DC-based charitable foundations.
A wide range of issue areas are represented such as homelessness, domestic violence, youth development, the arts, crime prevention, community development, the environment , international affairs and people with disabilities.

Past Intern Projects:
- Horton’s Kids
Josh Arkulary from Northern State University spent his summer interning at Horton’s Kids, where he was responsible for planning youth camp activities and field trips.
- Student Conservation Association
Rachel Buckley from Willamette University worked at the Student Conservation Association during the summer where she wrote grant proposals, researched funding opportunities and facilitate site visits to donors.
- Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Kate Geiser from Syracuse University interned with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where she maintained their alumni database, coordinated area Team in Training teams and helped organize a fundraising event that included 160 volunteers in over 60 days.
- Latin American Youth Center
Heather Crouch from the College of Charleston worked in the Workforce Development department of the Latin American Youth Center, where she researched nonprofit policy, wrote reports and did outreach and marketing.
- Share our Strength
Bridget Howland from Kansas State University interned for the Taste of the Nation project with Share our Strength, where she helped organize their media analysis project.
- Whitman-Walker Clinic
Adam Sferlazzo from The College of New Jersey worked with Whitman-Walker Clinic on public health issues in the Quality Improvement Department where he got the chance to meet and interview area doctors throughout the summer.
- Bread for the City
Melissa Arsenie from Gettysburg College spent her summer working at Bread for the City where she managed volunteer groups, wrote a weekly column on the organization's blog and helped to plan and facilitate their annual community picnic.
