Life in D.C.

Overview

Students in front of the Jefferson Memorial.

Participants in Live.Learn.Intern. programs have the opportunity to live, work and study in the nation's most powerful city.

Housing for all programs is provided. Students are placed either in the charming Capitol Hill neighborhood or on the historic Georgetown University campus.

Students take classes held at Georgetown University, a traditional collegiate setting in one of Washington's most attractive and distinctive residential neighborhoods. Additionally, students are placed in a variety of internships across the DC metropolitan area, all easily accessible to public transportation.

Students also have the opportunity to take advantage of the extensive amount of inexpensive or free cultural and site-seeing activities that Washington has to offer, such as:

  • Exhibits at Smithsonian museums
  • Marine Corps concerts at the Capitol
  • 4th of July fireworks display
  • Walking, running and biking trails throughout the DC area
  • Free shows on Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center
  • Jazz concerts in the Sculpture Garden at the Hirshhorn Museum
  • The National Zoological Park
  • and more!

With something new and exciting always happening in the city, students have the opportunity to explore all that D.C. has to offer!

“Washington DC is a lively city with so much to offer if a person can embrace it. My experience allowed me to dip into that energy and have a tremendous learning opportunity.”
