Thomas L. Phillips Collegiate Journalism Award

Students get ready for their first day of internships

The Thomas L. Phillips Collegiate Journalism Award recognizes excellence in collegiate reporting in which the student's work demonstrates an understanding of the basic ideas that support a free society, including freedom of the press, freedom of speech and free-market economic principles.

Judges will recognize students who show initiative and original reporting, and superior writing skills, as well as an understanding of the principles of individual freedom. In addition, a quality piece will also demonstrate a skill for accuracy in reporting as well as good use of sources.
