The Institute on Business and Government Affairs (IBGA) was established in 1990 to educate students on how business can properly communicate its message and help keep the free enterprise system vibrant and strong.
With over 800 alumni who have entered fields ranging from lobbying and government affairs to communications and government posts, the Institute offers an exclusive networking opportunity.
The Institute explores the practical and theoretical questions surrounding the dynamic business-government relationship. Students examine the complex economic and political issues that are confronted in the interaction between business and government, and develop an appreciation for this relationship. This mission is accomplished through classes, an internship experience and a variety of leadership activities including guest lectures, site briefings and panel discussions.
The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) was founded in 1967 to help instill in young people an appreciation for the American form of government and the free enterprise system. TFAS sponsors twelve Institutes that teach college students about the principles and values upon which the United States was founded.
“I learned that credibility is one of the most important assets you can have if you’re a lobbyist, and that providing Congressional members with accurate information is one of the main reasons why they are able to make informed decisions.”
