Capital Semester Students visit the State Department for a private briefing

As participants in Capital Semester, students are afforded once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to visit places of power and interest located in the Washington area.

Past briefings have included the State Department, the White House Complex and the Federal Reserve.

In addition, various social activities and networking opportunities are planned each semester for students to take advantage of while enjoying the many attractions and events in Washington, D.C. Highlights from past semesters include a day-trip to Mount Vernon, a tour of the monuments on the National Mall and a Washington Nationals baseball game.

Capital Semester students attend a taping of MSNBC’s Meet the Press

“I truly enjoyed the events organized for us by TFAS. Sitting in the board room at the Federal Reserve where Chairman Ben Bernanke meets regarding monetary policy, walking the halls of the Pentagon and listening to senior advisors at the US State Department made this semester memorable.”
