Eric Levinson ‘88
North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge
Since first joining the bench in 1996, Judge Levinson
has completed courses through the National Judicial College
in Reno, Nevada, including an offering on General Jurisdiction.
Judge Levinson joined the North Carolina State Prosecutor’s
Office after completing his academic studies; there,
he prosecuted drug, property, sexual assault, and homicide
offenders. Since joining the trial bench in 1996, he
has presided over a variety of civil, criminal and juvenile
matters. He has involved himself in efforts to improve
the efficiency of our courts. In particular, Judge Levinson
has helped re-engineer local criminal and child support
enforcement courts. He has participated in a variety
of domestic violence, criminal, and family court committees.
Judge Levinson is a former Board member of Hands on
Charlotte, a large comprehensive volunteer organization.
In addition, he previously served on the Executive Committee
for his synagogue. Judge Levinson was honored with an
invitation into the American Inn of Court, an association
of attorneys that promotes civility and professionalism
in the practice of law. He participates in Junior Chamber/Jaycees
programming and recently resigned from his seat on the
Board of Mecklenburg Sentencing Services, a private
nonprofit charged by statute with the responsibility
of working with criminal trial courts as an adjunct
sentencing support entity.
